Duke Energy Site Evaluation Program Highlights Site in Butler County

Mike Juengling, Butler County Planning and Economic Development Director introduces the Duke Energy Site Evaluation Program. A representative from McCallum Sweeney Consulting provided an overview of process for selecting the 244 acre site in St. Clair Township. Ohio Council of Port Authorities Quarterly Meeting

The OCPA elected officers on October 28th. Tracey Drake Chair and Harry Eaden as Vice Chair volunteered to serve with Rod Borden as Treasurer. Jerry Arkebauer will be Secretary. The meeting featured Steve Campbell from ODOT reviewing the new international shipping containers proposal for 94,000 containers and ODOT programs for economic development. Harry Eaden presented web site developers and the associated costs in addition to a presentation on Brownfield Redevelopment in Tuscarawas County.

Southwest Ohio Economic Development Advisory Forum

Ed McTernan XU Intern for the Butler County Port Authority and Mike Campbell BCPA Executive Director attended the forum that focused on financing options and programs for business in Ohio.

  • The Ohio Business Loan Clearinghouse has been created to assist in applying for loans. 
  • Workforce training programs and regional workforce development were also discussed. 
  • The EB-5 program for foreign investors was on the agenda as well.

Andy Brossart gave an update on the status of project financing. The USEPA Resolution 2010-07 was approved as well as the Bylaws additions and changes.

Next Meeting in Fairfield


Last year Tim Bachman gave an update on economic development in Fairfield. This year the BCPA assisted with the paperwork and process for Economic Development to widen Route 4 through Fairfield. BCPA received allocation for Recovery Zone Facility Bonds that are still pending. Attend the meeting in Fairfield on August 17th at 8:30 a.m. for updates on BCPA activities. The meeting will be in Council Chambers at City Hall.

Butler County Port Authority This Week

On June 15th we had our Board Meeting at the Liberty Township Fire Station Headquarters. The July Board Meeting will be held in Trenton at the City Building, 11 E. State Street. This week we submitted the MRH BRLF draw and disbursement binder, conducted a project meeting, held an administrative review meeting, prepared more documentation for the 2010 Audit and worked to complete the Recovery Zone Bond Progress Reports. A collaboration on an event in October is being planned as well as a collaboration with the Butler County TID on the Route 63 extension in July.

Butler County Port Authority as Partner in Intelligrated Award



The Intelligrated expansion project received the Growth Award from the Cincinnati Chamber of Commerce at the Business Courier Commercial Developer's Power Breakfast in Cincinnati. The Butler County Port Authority assisted in owning and leasing the West Chester facility which was $8.6M of the total project.
